GREAT DESERT FIND…APACHE JUNCTION

Monday, April 2 – We moved over to Santa Fe RV Park today in Apache Junction, AZ. This is the park our friends, Sandie & Jim, lease an annual site. It is a very nice park that honors our Passport America membership discount. We are situated at the foot of Superstition Mountains. A beautiful area. We are anxious to see the sun rise over the mountains tomorrow and the full moon later this week.

The sites are a generous size. They are gravel with a concrete patio and paved streets. We have full-hookups with 50-amp electric for $13.50/night (Passport America discount in effect beginning April 1)

The part is a nice size. Just over 100 sites, has a pool, hot tub, and a social room.

Marsha did laundry this afternoon, after checking-in, and said the machines are great and are reasonably priced. The laundry room is located next door to the swimming pool, so we enjoyed sitting by the pool as the laundry spun around in the washers and dryers.

Paul took a bike ride out to the edge of the mountains. He's going to enjoy riding in these foothills for the next week. He tried to take a desert trail across country, but found the trails a little too sandy in this area.

  3. Say hi to Sandie and Jim for me. I have many fond memories of visiting Apache Junction back in the 80's when my folks spent every winter at the Flying Dutchman RV Park. Enjoy!

  7. We have good memories of Apache Junction. We stayed in the Lost Dutchman State Park at the foot of the Superstition Mountains in a tent at the beginning of January in 2005 and it was COLD at night but oh so nice during the day. There is a beautiful hike up the mountain and the colours on the mountain at sunset were beautiful. Enjoy the area!

  9. We liked Sandie's park too. It would be perfect except Duchess isn't welcome at the park. They want tiny dogs.
