RV UPGRADES, REPAIRS AND VARMINTS

Thursday, August 5 – Since returning from our excursion to the UP of Michigan, we've been busy making some improvements to our fifth wheel and some repairs where necessary. There's been some time for hobbies and some baking too! We'll share some of these activities in the next couple blogs using pictures.

Clean AC (that's better)

Don’t forget to clean the filters periodically…Yuck!

Paul removed the vent screens and gave the fans a good cleaning.

The nails were falling out of old handles of our landing boards---don't want to run over a nail.

Now that's much better!

A screw had worked up and was tearing the covering under the slide-out.  Better get that removed!

Furnace tape has proven a good fix for tears to the under cover.

Paul installed the new regulator in the water bay. Now he won't be leaving this expensive regulator behind in the campground as happened in the past.

Paul installed a new smoke detector in the bedroom. The former location in the hall experienced false alarms while cooking. Scared poor Bella to death.

Paul built a couple corn hole games---one for us and one for Kelly and Dave.

Marsha shows off her painting skills. She wanted one to be her beloved Cleveland Indians and one our undisputed National Champs…The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Kelly and Dave enjoy painting their boards in honor of the Cleveland Browns.

While Dave gives instructions on how the painting is to be done, Kelly does all the work.

It is now midnight, and Kelly finishes the job while the boys enjoy some refreshments.

Paul's been the trapper all summer using his live trap to re-locate numerous raccoon and groundhogs. Too be exact…he has caught SIX raccoons and FIVE groundhogs. Oh….and a neighbor’s cat!

Marsha just about had a fit when she looked out the window and saw this guy eating her flowers.

Don’t look at me that way. You are on relocation assignment.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see y’all back real soon. Have a great day!

  2. We definitely have had to clean our air conditioner a couple of times this summer. Jim takes our smoke detector down when we're cooking and then puts it back up again. It got to the point where if either Jim or I were in the kitchen getting ready to cook something, Skittlez would start to shake and shiver. You mean you didn't plant those flowers especially for the critters to enjoy? I'm sure that's what they think.

  3. Nice. We hardly ever use our A/C, but I'll be taking it apart and cleaning it this fall when I do the roof coating.

  4. What an interesting blog. I could make one like this for repairs but it could run into pages and pages. But Doug is almost done and to be true, I have a feeling he is going to be lost!! Good tip about furnace tape. Hey, today we cleaned and reorganized "unda da bed" and you know what a job that is. And, we had mice for a few days One bit my finger when I was asleep. Ewwwwww!

  5. You have been busy and getting things done that need to be. Our AC very seldom gets used maybe a couple hours a year just to give it exercise.
I cook outside most on the Weber Q so no issues with the smoke detector.

  6. Thanks for the reminder about cleaning out the ACs.
Years ago we also lost a low cost water regulator and now we both do circle checks making certain that nothing is left behind. I was told years ago that the regulator also protects the hoses and water filters. If you start splitting your hose because of high pressure water then you'll have to put it back at the water supply.
Critters are critters and anything they find whether edible or not belongs to them. Hope the cat wasn't to traumatized but you won't find him in your trap again.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  7. Great work cleaning up, Paul! Guess I need to get John up on the roof with the air conditioners. We do clean the filters inside all the time, but I've never seen any others. Maybe we could stop by and you could demonstrate how to so this:)

Glad you caught that bugger before he ate the whole garden! Hope it liked its new location!

The corn hole boards look super! Good job!

  8. Oh dear.... you just reminded me we need to tend to our A/C. It's always something. Great job on the cornholing boards.

  9. Well, you certainly have been busy! What did you do with all those wild critters? Do not answer that question.....then I would not need to tell you what I did with ours on the farm.

  10. No varmints are safe when Trapper Paul is on the job ... hopefully they don't relocate back from where he relocates them to ;-) You guys have been busy for sure.

  11. Catching varmints isn't something I want to do. However, our AC is probably due to have some filters cleaned for sure.

  12. Looks like you have been really busy. I need Paul around for a week to help me catch up on things. I have been to busy riding the bike to get anything done....hehe

  13. Wow, you've been busy. We're in Weirton, WV and hope to be able to see you before we head east to Goshen.

  14. Where do you re-locate your varmints? Paul was so frustrated with the damage done by the groundhogs at our first house, he took a much more aggressive approach. We didn't have a garden big enough to provide a bounty for both them and us. They couldn't take just one tomato....no, they had to take a bite out of EVERY tomato.

BTW...I have solved the problem of not being able to comment on your blog. I re-set Firefox to the default factory settings. So glad to find an answer. :-)

  15. So that's a smoke detector...at my place it's a kitchen timer.
