REST AND RELAXATION DAY

Sunday, October 11 – A nice quiet day here at Midway Campground in Big Cypress. We walked our loop road several times for our exercise and then decided to just chill for the day.

When we were on our boardwalk walk yesterday, Marsha asked the Ranger if he had seen any Wood Storks yet this year. He said that they should be on there way. He did see three the other day. The Wood Stork is a large American wading bird. Well, lo and behold, we were sitting in the fifth wheel, and Marsha looked out the window. Guess what she saw…not one, not two, but THREE Wood Storks in the trees. She jumped up and ran out with her camera. She is easy to make happy.

The American crows in this area are as big as small hens. Each time we take Bella out, there are two that come around just to annoy her. We don’t know which one is bigger…Bella or the crow.

Marsha has never seen a white bristle brush. She has only seen red. Easily excited...yet again.

  1. You guys are travelling so fast that we would call that a Scouting Tour. You get to see briefly what the area has to offer then move on. Spend a little time to stop and smell the Sawgrass. LOL!
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  2. You should enjoy the W P Franklin COE in Alva, FL. It's right on the canal and there is usually a lot of boat traffic and you will have a front row seat for the parade. Enjoy!

  3. Aren't you glad we are so easily amused, Paul, with these little joys...hehe!

So glad that woth Wood Storks arrived to greet you:) Poor Bella and those ugly crows! We had a beautiful cardinal that adopted our MH while we were there. John named him Stanley and he almost drove us nuts. He kept seeing his reflection and pecking at the window and the black strips! He would also sit on the edge of the Jeep mirrors and poop!

You are making good time getting around the state. You are going to be quite a long way from St. Petersburg where you are staying. But do try to get out to Sanibel and Captiva while in the Ft Myers area. The beaches are lovely and covered with shells on Sanibel.

    Safe travels!

  4. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but those birds you saw are young white ibis. Wood storks have a much thicker and not quite so curvy bill. :(

  6. What? You took a day to relax? I can't believe it. I've been looking at your schedule now and trying to figure out where you're going to be and when. Our plans are changing and we're heading south earlier than we thought we would so still hoping to meet up ... some time and some place.
