FARMERS MARKET AT IMPERIAL

Saturday, March 5 - We visited the Farmers Market At Imperial this morning. It is held every Saturday from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.

Farmers Market At Imperial

It is on land once owned by the Imperial Sugar company, one of the companies that gave “Sugar” Land, Texas it's name. It was actually the discovery of wild sugar cane back in the 1800's that lead to the development of Sugar Land, Texas. From that discovery came Imperial Sugar, one of the oldest continuously operating companies in the State of Texas and a bran trusted all across America for generations. The history of Imperial is very interesting. Click here to read more.

We started our visit with a great cup of coffee. The coffee we had was from Rwanda. We enjoyed watching how the gal made our fresh-brewed cup of coffee.

It was a typical farmers market with locally grown produce ranging from carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, etc.

The biggest carrots we have ever seen!Farmers Market At Imperial

There were also a couple booths of bake goods, honey sales, a few people selling handmade crafts, and several people selling spices.

We purchased a delicious blueberry scone and pizza bread from this gal.Farmers Market At Imperial

We stopped for awhile at an India booth selling India spices and breads. Houston has a culturally diverse population with a significant population from India as well as numerous other countries. We were delighted with the unusual tastes of this gal’s spices and breads and made a couple purchases to take home.
