Monday, September 29, continued – After our visit to the White House of the Confederacy, we crossed the street to tour the Capitol Building.
After passing through security, we were given a self-guided tour map for all three floors of the building.
Marsha loved for some strange reason the carpet on the stairs.
Most of this building is a museum. The government offices have moved across the street to the new state building.
You can stroll into the historic Senate and the House of Representatives. They are magnificently restored.
The Rotunda is the highlight of the tour. It is very beautiful and soars through the 3 floors of the building and beyond. The Rotunda's neoclassical plasterwork and stained glass skylight date from 1906. In 1927, artwork was added decorating the Rotunda walls with large murals and vibrant color scheme.
That is all the time we wanted to spend in Montgomery this time. There are tons of other places to visit for next time.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see y’all back real soon. Have a great day!
