SOME SIGHTSEEING IN NASHVILLE, TN

Tuesday, September 27 – We traveled about 180 miles down I-64 this morning to Nashville, TN. We are staying at the Madison, TN, Elks Lodge which is a few miles outside of Nashville. There are four VERY TIGHT sights. I question if four RV's could actually fit in the allotted space. Luckily there are only 3 RV's here. The two end spots were taken when we arrived so we had to take one of the middle sites. I doubt anyone would fit next to us unless it was a tiny travel trailer or possibly a Class B motorhome. The sights are not level. They are gravel with two 30 amp ($20/night) and two 50 amp ($25/night) electric. All have water on shared pedestals. There is a dump on site.

After getting settled in our site, we headed into Nashville for some sightseeing. We've been here before and enjoyed the country bars and music. Today we have several other things we want to see.

Our first stop was the Parthenon. The Parthenon is the centerpiece of Centennial Park in Nashville.   The building and the Athena statue are both full-scale replicas of the Athenian originals. The Parthenon was built for Tennessee's 1897 Centennial Exposition and also serves as Nashville’s art museum.

Marsha went into the Parthenon. It is only $4.00 for seniors. She said it was wonderful. They have many, many photos of what the area looked like during the Exposition. Marsha said it looked lovely. She highly recommends it.

The re-creation of the 42-foot statue Athena is the focus of the Parthenon. The Shield is 15’ in diameter.

We then stopped at Jack Cawthon's BBQ for lunch. Thanks to Janice and Dave, who recommended this spot. We certainly were not disappointed. Marsha had the turkey BBQ sandwich, and Paul the pork shoulder BBBQ sandwich. We both enjoyed a side of green beans which were so delicious.

We will finish this quick sightseeing tour in our next post.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see y’all back real soon. Have a great day!
