Monday, March 4 – We walked around Bandera, TX, today.

Even though the sign says it and it is written on their website, we cannot find out why Bandera is called the Cowboy Capital of the World.

We enjoyed strolling among the stores looking at the items for sale.

If you visit here, don't miss Back in the Saddle Unique Boutique. What a store. It is packed with just about anything a girl would want. An unique is a perfect word to describe this store.

Some other sites you will see in Bandera.

It really doesn't take long to complete a thorough walk-about of Bandera. Not many interesting shops, mostly touristy stuff and antique stores.

We then drove out to Medina, TX, to visit The Apple Store.

We were here in 2010. It is known for amazing hamburgers, baked goods, and their patio cafe. We split a hamburger and soft drink, saving our calories for some delicious apple bakery items. The burger was great.

The Store specializes in apple pies. They are HUGE! Each pie contains 5 pounds of apples, and they sell for $24.94 EACH.

The gal at the oven said they make 25-100 pies each day (weekends are especially busy) and ship them all over the United States.

Needless to say, we did not buy a pie. Instead, we purchased an apple and raisin cookie and two apple turnovers. They were delicious.

SKYLINE RANCH RV PARK…BANDERA, TEXAS

Friday, March 1 – We are in Texas Hill Country, Bandera, Texas. We had a long but safe six hour drive north from the Rio Grande Valley. We're staying at Skyline Ranch RV Park.

We stayed here back in 2010 and are actually in the same site - #106.

The Park has a country setting, with gravel roads and sites. There is a picnic table at each site and the majority are pull-thru sites. We have a 50 amp, full-hookup site. There is grass and trees between each site. With the campground not being very crowded this time of year, they spread out the RVs leaving an empty site between each. That's nice!

Once we were all set up, we took Bella for a well-deserved walk. She has been on concrete for two months and loves to get out and walk in the woods. She was enjoying her walk until…

she encounter this.

This little guy just couldn't get enough of Bella. He followed us until he couldn't follow no more.

The park has tons of deer. So far they have stayed in the field. The last time we were here, they walked freely through the Park.

The temperatures this time of year, range with lows in the 40's and highs in the upper 60's or 70's. With that said, temperatures for the next two nights are dipping down near freezing.....GREAT! The good news is daytime temperatures will be in the 70's with Monday temperatures reaching into the 80's.....NICE!

We went to the 11^th Street Cowboy Bar to have several beverages, listen to the Natalie Rose Band, and do a little Texas Two-stepping. We had a good time and enjoyed the band.

We knew it would be a classy place when we saw the welcoming signs on the door.

Lucky for us, no one took them up on the dance requirements.

TEXAS HILL COUNTRY…ODDS AND ENDS

Saturday, October 30 – We took a ride up to Ingram to see Stonhenge II. It is a replica of the famous megalith in Salisbury Plain, England.

It is 60% as tall as the original and 90% as large in circumference. Along with the replica of Stonehenge, there are two Easter Island-type statues.

Unfortunately, the Stonehenge is in a state of disrepair....it's falling down. There is a donation box trying to collect the necessary money to save it. They need $50,000 and are at the $30,000 mark. If you are going to see it, you better hurry.

About a half mile down TX-39 from the Stonehenge is a really cool shop....Copper Cactus.

The yard is full of cooper art from Mexico.

There are three buildings full of hand made jewelry, Indian blankets, furniture and other western style art. Sherri and Jay own the building and most of the items in the three building are originals that Sherri and Jay made. This is a really neat stop!

We rode home on TX-16 between Kerrville and Medina. There are warning for trucks and RV's of steep windy roads.....a warning well heeded! It is a beautiful ride through the country, but DON'T take your RV this way!

This looks straight but don’t kid yourself. All we saw were signs with S shapes on them.

We took Bella on the river walk. No not in San Antonio....the Medina River runs next to the campground, so we took her down there so she could explore.

The water is so clear. You can’t even see it in the pictures just some ripples.

Bella had a real long drink.

Now for Paul. He didn’t know Marsha was watching as he attempts to across a log.

He acted like he crossed the Grand Canyon. In reality, if his foot would have hit the water it wouldn’t have gone high enough to wet his sock. Such an adventurous man!

So many deer in the RV Park. They come right outside the MH to eat.

Sunday, October 31 – Happy Halloween!  We attended the 8:30 a.m. service at Bandera United Methodist Church. It was Youth Sunday. Now, we enjoy seeing the youth involved in the service but this was a very different service. The youth conducted the entire service which would have been fine if we could have heard at least a tenth of what they said. We don’t think any practice every occurred and no one knew how to fix the speaker system. It was very unorganized. Unfortunately, one gentleman actually got up and walked out. We have no idea who the ministry is, his name wasn’t even in the bulletin. Not one of our better worship experiences.

What a rare day for us…we didn’t do a thing! Paul got the motor home ready for traveling tomorrow; Marsha doesn’t really know what she did all day. Oh, she says she talked to her dad and her Aunt Johanne…what a BIG day she had.
