When Limestone College was established in 1845, it was the first women's college in South Carolina and one of the first in the United States. In the late 1960s, Limestone became fully coeducational.

Limestone is a Division II school. They have every major sport for men and women except football. Amazing for such a small school.

They have a special display for of all people Gaylord Perry. He played for the Cleveland Indians 1972-1975. He did not attend Limestone College, but he started the baseball program at the college and was the first coach.

After our tour of The College, we drove over to the Gaffney Park for some Bella (our cat) time. She loves walking outdoors. Marsha walked her all over the place; then we sat and read on a bench until it got tooooo hot (very humid). With the temps climbing, we headed to the Freightliner customer waiting room. We went from the HOT to the FREEZING. Why do these places feel it's necessary to crank the AC so cold. Every once in a while we were forced outside to warm-up......LOL. Bella enjoyed the cool waiting room but every now and then she wanted out for a break.

At about 4 p.m. Justin drove the MH out of the service bay declaring everything was adjusted, oiled, lubed and serviced. Our 3M Service was complete. We now know all the required chassis services are up-to-date and everything has been adjusted and checked over. We pulled out to fuel up and then returned to dump our holding tanks and to again use the free camping facilities until Friday morning departure.

NOTE: We have put all the pictures from the Chippoakes Farm Museum on line. There are some pictures from the post but a ton more from the museum. We know Marsha’s dad will love to look at these. It will remind him of growing up on the farm. Just click here.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you back soon.

  1. We enjoyed sharing your adventures while in Gaffney. We are parked across from your site on #16. I can't believe how crowded the lot is tonight. It looks like the battlefield is in our future, also. I'm with Paul on the battlefield...yawn! We never miss a historical site since John is a history buff and was a social studies teacher. We also visit colleges in the area. I guess it goes with being an educator.
    Enjoy your time in Texas:)
