Wednesday, March 28 – We started our day traveling to Scottsdale to see Frank Lloyd Wright's home, Taliesin West. He began building this desert masterpiece in 1937 as his personal winter home, studio, and architectural campus.
After checking the price – normally $32 each but on sale today for $27, we decided to pass on the group tour and walked down the street to get a couple pictures of the outside. We'll use the $54 on fuel.....ha ha! I'm sure it would have been a wonderful tour, but we a careful about spending that much on one sightseeing stop.
We then drove into Scottsdale. Hey...there's money in Scottsdale, AZ! Most of these homes were amazing. Expensive southwest design and beautiful. Southwest Adobe is Paul's favorite home style.
Old Downtown Scottsdale is divide into districts. Arts, Entertainment, Fashion, Business, Civic, and Old Town Districts.
We chose to walk among the small shops in the Old Town District.
Everyone needs one of these…right?
Paul contemplating if he should purchase this chair for the MH.
Paul did buy a t-shirt but that was it for our spending. After a couple hours, we called it a day and returned to the MH.
When we got back to the MH, this is how we found Bella sleeping.
Must be nice to be so flexible.
This evening we headed to Superstition Skies, a honky tonk in Apache Junction. We were there to meet up with friends we met over two years ago at Quartzsite, during our first months on the road. Sandie & Jim Dixon are staying at a park in Apache Junction and enjoy this tavern frequently on Wednesday nights. They brought a friendly couple with them.
Jim and Sandie on the left side.
Kerry & Brant were the country singers. We really enjoyed them and the evening with Sandie & Jim.
I wonder why Jim has such a huge smile on his face. Do you know Sandie?
The last song was Pretty Woman. So, all the gals got up and danced.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see y'all back real soon. Have a great day!
Most importantly and first of all ... how do you think Jim and Sandie feel when you call them "Old"? They may not really feel that old.
ReplyDeleteWe loved Superstition Skies. It's a great place to go. Scottsdale Elks isn't far from Old Town where you visited. Did you see the $1200 boots we left for you there?
We couldn't bring ourselves to spend the money on Taliesin either, although we heard it was a great tour.
ReplyDeleteBy the way you're dancing looks like your back is doing much better!
Loved the picture of you and Sandie dancing! Glad you guys got together. And glad to see you felt up to dancing.
ReplyDeleteThose are sure some beautiful homes...and I love that covered walkway. Glad to see you up dancing and enjoying yourself.
ReplyDeleteWe toured Taliesin West years ago, and have also been to his Fallingwater in PA. Both interesting, we thought, but unless you're a real architecture aficionado seeing them from the outside would be sufficient IMHO. Had we come across these places in "retirement," we probably would have skipped the tour, too.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great evenin' "gettin' down" with friends!
ReplyDeleteJeri - some days we definitely do feel that "old". But it was so great to see you guys. Amazing it's been two years but it seems like only a short time. Thank goodness for blogs.
ReplyDeleteThat's why they call it "Snotsdale``
