HARBOR VISTA PARK…FLORENCE, OR

Tuesday, May 29 – We were on the road early this morning headed for our next stop, Florence, OR. The drive was beautiful.

We are camped at Harbor Vista County Park in Florence, Oregon. What a nice campground! We are in Site 3 of the 38 available sights. It is easily accessible from Route 101 by driving about 3 miles out to the cape on a nice paved road.

Our site is paved, about 65 feet long, has a fire ring, a tent site (our patio), and 50 amp electric and water. There is a dump station available at the front gate.

We were greeted by Pauline, a friendly camp host, who directed us to our site and made sure we had everything we needed. There is also a campground caretaker, that lives in a house in the campground, that takes care of maintenance and sells firewood. He does a wonderful job. The park is very clean.

There is a access to the beach where you can walk for miles along the sandy beach. This area of the coast is not the rugged high cliffs associated with most of the Oregon coastline.

Bella, our cat, just LOVES all the birds, smells, grass and areas for exploration. We are here for a week, and she will certainly enjoy herself.

This County Park's website does a great job of explaining each site. They even have a category for satellite reception for each site.

A gorgeous sunset.

  1. That looks like that kind of campground that might spoil you if you stay too long. Beautiful.

  2. Oh, boy...one of our favorite places! We'll bring all the grandkids over for a visit...oh, wait, can't do that...they're all in school. Well, you could hike down the trail from the park there to the beach...we've never done that...take pictures so we'll know what it looks like way down there! Actually, if you take a look down that trail, you may decide that it's better to just drive down to the jetty if you want to see the beach. Nice place for taking pictures. Great sunset you got. Happy that the sun is shining for you guys! See ya Saturday.

  3. Oh what a magnificent sunset you captured on film...oh wait, we don't use film anymore...you captured on disc. So nice to hear about a campground noting satellite reception on specific sites. We hope more will start doing that. We pour over satellite images and campground maps particularly for COE and state parks to see if there is a suitable site. What a great week you and Bella are going to have! Enjoy your yard and new adventures!

  4. Another pin for Pinterest! I have a website for you to look at. If you are in the area (have no idea where Florence is)....this is THE place for organic veggies and fruit. If you go, tell Sophie or Gabe that I sent you///// groundworkorganics@gmail.com

  6. What a great looking campground! I've 'pinned it' for reference on our future travels along the Oregon Coast.

The nice thing about this coastline is that once you are camped, there are so many great places to visit and explore within 60 miles north or south on Hwy. 101.

  7. Harbor Vista is a Lane County Park and also has a day use area. Quite a few bloggers have stopped at Armitage Park here in Eugene, which is also a Lane County Park. They do a great job with both of these campgrounds and also the one at Fern Ridge. Glad you are enjoying your stay.

  12. Wow! What a gem of a spot you found. The sky even looks very blue. We had some showers come through today but hopefully they'll go away by the time you get up here .... not so sure that'll happen though.

  15. I camped down the Oregon coast for a month in my conversion van a few years ago and it seems they're all terrific! In fact, when I saw the picture of your site, I actually thought it was the county park in Lincoln City, which had similar sites. You should have a great time there...I'll definitely look for it next time I'm up that way.
