Monday, June 18 – We made a short drive up to Kelso, Washington, today. We are staying at the Kelso Elks Lodge for a couple days while we visit Mount St. Helens.
The Lodge is very nice, but the campground needs some more gravel. The sites are gravel with gravel streets. With the recent rain, things are a little muddy. We have 30 amp electric and water. There is a dump station on the property.
Looking right. The yellow building is the back of the Elks.
We met friends, Jeri and Terry Williams for dinner in the lodge this evening. It's “burger-nite.” It's our “farewell” dinner because we will probably pull-out of the area before seeing them again. They wouldn't let us drive, pay for gas, or buy them dinner during our guided tours. They finally agreed to dinner at the Elks tonight….WOW, they really made us pay big…NOT!
Once again, we would like to thank Jeri and Terry for the time they spent with us and the enjoyable days around the Portland area. Thanks guys!
Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see y'all back real soon. Have a great day!
I hope you have good weather for the trip to the top of Mt. SH. The view is dynamite! I really like that trip and the hiking at the top.
ReplyDeleteWe stay at the Kelso Elks for trips to Mt. SH, or anytime we are traveling up and down I-5. Not the nicest of the Elks lots, but it sure is convenient. You can walk up to the grocery store (a Safeway?) and we have purchase diesel at the service station there for a reasonable price.
Hope you get to visit Mount St. Helens on a clear day. It's quite an interesting site.
ReplyDeleteGolly, I hope the rain goes away for you. Sopped in.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time. Jeri & Terry can be pretty stubborn at times. But as tour guides they cannot be beat.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping for clear skies and a calm mountain :-)))
ReplyDeletehope you had a clear view today!..clouds with some sun for us today!..you are getting closer?
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've got lots of room to move around in that Elks lot.
ReplyDeleteHope you get clear weather for your tour of Mt. St. Helen's. The weather has been the pits for far too long now.
The sun will be shining on you tomorrow. At least that's what the weatherman is saying. Thanks to you for a wonderful few days and for the treat at the Elks. We enjoyed being able to goof off and spend some time with you folks again. I'll be anxious to hear about your Mt. St. Helens adventure.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the Mt St Helens pics. . .
