JANUARY 6 – The weather hasn't been very nice here in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV). It's been cool (temps in the 40's), and the air is filled with a misty rain since the first of the year. We've been giving our overhead heat pump a real workout the past five days. Each day we have had to turn on the propane furnace. Bella enjoyed laying on the register....silly cat!
BUT, the sun came out today, and it was beautiful. What a difference a day makes. Everyone was out walking, riding bikes, and just having a great time.
Thank goodness for the Football Bowl games. With the rotten weather, they have saved us from tearing out our hair from a bad case of “cabin fever.”
We did get some fresh South Texas oranges and grapefruit to make some juice. Yummy! Fresh squeezed orange juice is so good! It sure makes us appreciate the number of oranges it takes to make a gallon of orange juice. We squeezed, using an electric juicer, about 30 minutes to make a quart of juice. Crazy, but oh so good!
We went over to friends, Angie and Rick's, on Friday night for a fun evening playing the Horse Race board game. What a neat game. We had a great time, lots of fun, and enjoyable evening shared with a group of friends. Paul won about a $1.05; Marsha on the other hand lost $3.65. But what fun we had.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see y'all back real soon. Have a great day!
Bella has the right idea, why didn't I think of that.
ReplyDeleteAt least it warms up quite nicely later in the day here. It's nippy at night though. Love Bella's search for heat.
ReplyDeleteOur cats like the bathroom in our Cameo, with a small room and one vent it is the warmest area.
ReplyDeleteBella sure knows how to stay warm and dry, eh? This rain pretty well clinches it...you have a big dose of bad weather mojo. Since we had some sunshine today, I'll try to box up some warm weather and send it to you. At the very least, I'll send you warm thoughts. In the meantime, you might quit doing that rain dance in the back yard.
ReplyDeleteBella and Skitz would have to fight over the heat vents in our house. But when the Blue Flame is running there's room for both of them. I'd love some warmer weather here but hopefully next week will give us a break from the cold.
ReplyDeleteBella's a smart cat!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see your weather has improved a bit down there - it does seem to put a smile on peoples faces for sure.
Paulette made a jug of freshly squeezed OJ too - it sure is good.
That cat ain't no fool.
ReplyDeleteBeen raining pretty steady here for about four days. Starting to lose track.
We have a home made version of that horse race game. I didn't think I'd ever see another one...
We're supposed to have sun today ... and maybe tomorrow before the clouds move in for a while. The forecasted showers have been negligible, though, so that's something.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a "cat thing." Our spoiled little darlings have electric blankets....which they LOVE!
ReplyDeleteGlad your weather is better. Ours has improved too and we're expecting mid 80's this week.
smarty kitty..she knows how to stay warm...glad your weather is improving..dampish here today...
ReplyDeletewarm sunny weather is a very good thing. so glad to see that pollen Marcia both still have their hair.
ReplyDeleteWe had sun for awhile here in Oregon and (really, no kidding!) 55 warm degrees!! Of course, it's back to gray clouds now and a storm moving in tonight. Tell Bella to move over, I need a warm place too.

ReplyDeleteIt seems all the supposed great winter hangouts (AZ, CA and TX) have had rainy, cooler weather this winter. We too have been having rain in San Diego. I guess we should all be thankful we aren't shoveling snow this time of year.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of Bella on the register...she ain't no dummy! LOL The weather hasn't been optimum here either, but whatever we get is better than sn*w! Glad the sun has come out...send some east, please!
ReplyDeleteughhh. . .let's all keep our fingers crossed that this front moving up from Mexico will be the last of the yuck for awhile. . .stay dry!
