THE BEST WINERY WE HAVE EVER BEEN TO

Wednesday, September 17 continued – After our hike, we decided to stop at “one of the smallest churches in the country.” What a cute and unique house of worship. Yes, they do have services, although there are only four pews. It sure would be a nice place for a small wedding.

This picture brought back memories for Paul. He said his mom had it hanging in their house the entire time he lived there.

Our last stop of the day was West Wind Farm Winery. Located about three miles down the road from our campground, this is another one of those “must stop” places if you are ever in the area.

West Wind Winery

We spent an hour with the owners and winemaker, what a lovely couple.

West Wind Winery

They grew up in this area and know a good wine, let me tell you! This is the nicest winery we ever visited and we enjoyed ALL the wines.

We left with only one bottle, but purchased several gifts for family. Never too late to start Christmas shopping. I'm telling you, we could have easily purchased several cases of all their wonderful wine… $$$$. We predicate that this wine may win the Weaver’s Annual Wine Tasting Party held next summer.

We've got more hiking to do and additional sights to see, so stop back and check out what we're up to!

Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see y’all back real soon. Have a great day!

  1. That's a big compliment for the winery to say it's the best you've been too. You're regular pros at this. We definitely like some wineries more than others. We especially love the ones with nice little restaurants tucked inside i.e., Pahrump comes to mind.

  3. Another non-Texan entry in the wine tasting event. Time to rethink the Texas theme.

  4. That's 2 nice little finds in just one day - well done. That little church was pretty amazing with just 4 pews.

It's incredible to me to see just how many family wineries have sprung up across North America just in the past 20 years or so. We have over a dozen of them within 12 miles of our home including 5 within walking distance!

  7. Niece works at local Walmart. Nephew at the carpet store right near I-81. We've seen that church there along the road. Never went in. What campground are you in, or was that already posted in the previous post. I haven't been online for a few days. I'll check it out.

  8. What an adorable church!! The inside is so cute.

Looks like a really nice winery. Isn't it nice when places aren't crowded with tourist. Glad you were able to find a few items to purchased:)

Happy hiking! Can't wait to see what you find.

  9. We once visited The Little Brown Church in the Vale. Did you sing that song in your church growing up? I think it had four pews also but, I think they only seated 2 people each. It had the special feeling inside that churches have though.
