Sunday, November 2 – We've been doing a little travel planning recently and thought we would throw it out to our readers to see if anyone had any suggestions on thing to do, see, or experience. There is so much to see and experience in this great country, and no matter how much research we do, we always seem to miss something. Of course, that gives us an excuse to return to areas we've been previously.
Our main focus is to spend the winter in the Arizona area, with a couple excursions into California and New Mexico. We want to return to the RV Show in Quartszite, mainly to re-new friendships with the group we met the last time there in 2010. It's a full-timer group once known as the Escapee's Class of 2009, but has since expanded welcoming many more RV'ers into the group.
The other “big event” will be to attend Spring Training Major League Baseball in the Phoenix area. Of course, this is where the Cleveland Indians train during March's Cactus League season. Again, we did this back in 2012. and enjoyed it very much. Marsha thinks this is going to be the Cleveland Indians’ year to win the pennant …... she's such a fan. Paul enjoys them, but nothing like Marsha.
So, here's an rough outline of where we are headed, and the approximate time we will be there. Of course, this is written in caulk and subject to change. If we're passing through an area where you are staying, let us know and maybe we can plan a rendezvous.

Remember our little get together starts about the 24th in "Q". Of course, some folks will be there before. We'll be in the Scottsdale area about the same time you are too so I'm sure we'll see there. I just happen to know where you're staying!
ReplyDeleteYou gonna be busy travelling all over, we will be in the Quartzsite area for about 3 weeks again will probably see y'all there. And some of the other areas as well looks like different times though.
ReplyDeleteWe just might cross paths at Anza Borrego SP. We are thinking of heading there from San Diego on Jan 15th. We would probably stay for two weeks. So we may be able to catch each other. If not there, we are planning to hit Sedona in Feb or Mar. We will probably stay at Dead Horse SP in Cottonwood again. It was a great central location for all the spots surrounding. We, also, plan to be in the surrounding Phoenix area probably in March. Since we have no reservations at this point, we will find you somewhere. for sure!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun/busy schedule. Enjoy the ride.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you will be busier than we will be this winter.
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Oh goody. . .we've not been to any of those places once you leave Houston. . .can't wait to read about each and every one.
ReplyDeleteWhen we were still workamping, strongly considered a position at Anza Borrego. . .but decided on Colorado instead. . .looking forward to your trip.
Looking forward to seeing you guys again. It's been way too long.
ReplyDeleteSounds ambitious to me. But you two are way more ambitious than I am. Hope it is a good winter for you.
ReplyDeleteWow, I forgot about that photo. One place I always recommend is Page, AZ to see Slot Canyon, Horseshoe Bend and lot's of other stuff. The pyrotechnic show is great in Lake Havasu City. Roswell, White Sands, and we like to take a trip to Columbus and stay at Pancho Villa State Park with a trip to the Pink Store. It's worth a side trip to go to the Ranch in Lakewood, NM for hugs. Lone Pine, CA is where all the old cowboy movies were made. A hike through the Alabama Hills is awesome.
ReplyDeleteWe worked at the Coachella Valley Nature Preserve a long time ago. Great hiking there and it's right on the fault line. Just outside of Thousand Palms, Ca. Looking forward to seeing you while your in this area. We will be in Congress till the end of February. Not sure about Cottonwood area in February, it could be pretty cold there that time of year.
ReplyDeleteWe did not like Borrego Springs at all but we were boondocking. That was horrible. And we were going to Los Angeles from there and had to go over the mountains. Worse trip EVER.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have a great itinerary planned for the winter months. Should be fun.
ReplyDeletelooks like we might be in a lot of the same spots and maybe several at or near the same time.... I have lots of time to finalize my research...
ReplyDeleteWe will be in Goodyear from the middle of November until March 8th, you know where the Reds are :-) We are looking forward to meeting you guys.
ReplyDeleteNice plan ... only familiar with the Sedona area. Lots of wonderful hikes, An easy place to go for views ... take the road up towards the airport. Oakwood Canyon is a lovely route to drive from Sedona towards Flagstaff. Of course, we were there just before Christmas so there was snow to add to the beauty of the area. Cathedral Rocks is fantastic at sunset. If they are still running it, the pink jeep tours are great fun too. Enjoy all the red rocks.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great winter. We will be at Jojoba Hills RV SKP Resort all winter and are planning to get to the Q and Anza Borrego, so hopefully we will meet up.
