Thursday, January 8 - With freezing rain predicted over night and early Wednesday in Columbus, NM, we decided we had enough and threw-in the towel. Too much like winter! After checking the weather reports for Tucson, AZ, we decided to move up travel plans by a day and head to Arizona.
We had plans to stay at Justin's Diamond J RV Park but decided on the more economical (read as cheap) Pima County Fairgrounds. What a wonderful surprise! We have a beautiful semi-private site overlooking the green park. What an interesting area for Bella to explore and for us to enjoy sitting out in our chairs. The hookups were a little weird, forcing us to fish our electrical and sewer lines under the RV, but what the heck. This is a great site and the temperatures are in the 70's!!!!
Our backyard and Bella’s little bit of heaven.
The people working in the RV office are very friendly and helpful. There are several different RV parking sites on the fairgrounds. We took a walk around some of the grounds. There are many buildings, patios and barns. This place is huge. For fellow Escapee readers, this is the site for the Escapade coming up in March.
An update for the Blogger Fest
Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see y’all back real soon. Have a great day!
It looks like you found another winner! We won't be down to Tucson until March 4th so now we'll have to find someplace other than the fairgrounds for a few days. Note to self: Call Justin's Diamond J's tomorrow. It sure is great to have RV friends sampling all the parks and letting us know where the good ones are. See ya soon!
ReplyDeleteA great spot to stay and warmer temps, gotta love it!
ReplyDeleteYou're in the right place at the right time, that's for sure. Enjoy that sunshine!
ReplyDeleteThe fairgrounds look like a nice place to visit.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got out before the freezing rain! Yes, that sounds like a northern winter day. Sounds like perfect weather in Tucson!! Enjoy your stay in the fairgrounds. Looks like a nice place:)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice park. We have also been in parks where the utilities are on the wrong side of the RV. The person that designed the park must either be British or has never seen a North American RV before.
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
We've found lots of wonderful fairgrounds along our way. Definitely better weather in Tucson even though it was overcast today.
ReplyDeleteGetting very very close. If you want to push just a little bit further, Sandie and Jim will be joining us here at Pilot Knob tomorrow. Several other Classless classmates are also in Yuma.
ReplyDeleteNice fairgrounds:) We have stayed at a number of them that have been very nice. For us, the biggest issue sometimes is finding how to make reservations.
ReplyDeleteLooks Like your Heading to Yuma give us a shout will show you our Park. Bet your happy to be in warmer climes! We have lots of Escapee Boomer visiting Yuma.
ReplyDeleteWe are traveling west next winter. Did you find that you need to make reservations ahead of time or was it easy to find available sites without.
ReplyDeleteBTW They are having a spring Escapade there I think in March.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful place to stay. We will have to keep this in mind the next time we are in Tucson. We have always tended to stay at Santa Catalina SP.
ReplyDeleteWe are in a park across I-10 from the Pima Fairgrounds. If you have any questions about the area or need any help, drop me a msg. Lots of sights to see in the area to keep you busy.
ReplyDeleteThe Fairground rv park closes in early April for the Pima County Fair and stays closed until Fall. It is rare that you will need a reservation there, but it does sometime happen.
the weather must be much nicer there if you can sit out. . .sounds great!
ReplyDeleteI knew the name seemed familiar. . .we have friends who will be there for the Escapade.
We will be there for Escapade.
