Monday, May 18 – We haven't blogged the last several weeks because we've been chillin' out here at our summer home in Canton, OH. That doesn't mean we haven't been busy. We've accomplished a lot in the month since arriving.
We've been concentrating on outside work taking advantage of the magnificent weather we've experienced. We've trimmed trees, spread tons of mulch, edged all the flower beds, built a little retaining wall around our birding area, washed the 5th wheel, purchased a utility shed, ran underground electric to the shed and our RV parking spot, planted some shrubs and flowers, and kept the grass mowed.
We also found time to make one batch of wine. More to come for sure.
Marsha worked on her birding area. She loves the birdbath we brought back from Mexico.
Tons of detail in the bath area.
We also caught our first raccoon of the season. Marsha caught it drinking out of her bird bath and said…Enough is Enough!
That sounds like a pretty busy month, but we really enjoy the outdoors and doing yard work. That's one of the things we missed during our years full-timing. We still have several projects we want to finish on the home remodeling front. We'll get busy on that “to do list” next month.
We enjoyed visiting with our daughter, Kelly, and her husband, Dave. They purchased a home last fall and are doing their own list of projects. We spent a couple weekends at their place helping out and exploring their area.
They live in Chardon, OH, which is the maple syrup capital of Ohio. They learned to tap their maple trees and make their own syrup. Yummy!!! They also live in the winery area of Ohio, so we spent an evening along with Dave's parents visiting a few wineries. We’ll cover that in the next post.
We've sure enjoyed seeing Kelly and Dave and plan on spending much more time with them this summer. We are also considering a trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan later this summer.
We hope that explains our lack of blogging and fills everyone in on what we've kept ourselves busy with since arriving in Ohio.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see y’all back real soon. Have a great day!
I would need that wine after doing all that work.
ReplyDeleteWe will be in Kalamazoo last of Sept/early October. Looking for things we just gotta see.
I just know you did that 'Cardinal red' mulch around the house just for me.
ReplyDeleteI like the new wall and bushes aorund the back room. The yard looks great. You certainly have been working very hard. Just remember to rest:) So glad to see the bird bath made it to the yard in one piece. It is so pretty:) Love that the raccoon found it...too funny!
ReplyDeleteNow that's a jug of wine! Looks like Paul is having fun making it. Don't drink it all at once:)
I'm sure Kelly and Dave are thrilled to have home to help out. Let us know how the maple syrup turns out! Yummy!
The yard looks great! I thought that we were keeping busy.
ReplyDeleteSince you've been having all the nice weather that explains why we've been getting so much rain.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
No surprise that you guys got a lot accomplished ... always working on a project. Glad the weather cooperated for you.
ReplyDeleteYour place is looking GREAT! Love the long horn on the back fence and your birding area. Paul misses his garden too, but not spreading all that mulch! Been there, done that. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou sure have been busy! The house and yard look great. I remember that bird bath and you guys standing in line and walking across the border with it. The effort looks like it was well worth it, it looks wonderful in your garden, I sure hope the birds love it as much as the raccoon does.

Your idea of "chillin" sounds like too much work! I'd like to see the UP of Michigan one of these summers but Jim has heard too many mosquito stories.
ReplyDeleteWas wondering what you were up too, glad you enjoy all that home maintenance, you place is looking wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYour home looks so beautiful there. I love working outside in nice weather too. Enjoy your summer and hope we can get together again later this year.
ReplyDeleteDo you hire out? If you go to Michigan make sure to stop at the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners.
ReplyDeleteI just knew you guys were keeping busy!
ReplyDeleteThe yard is looking mighty fine. Love that bird bath and so worth hauling it back from Mexico. We'll be visiting Mackinac Island the first week in September... hopefully.
ReplyDeleteHA, I was just thinking about you guys when I saw an article about the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. You've got the place looking good! Nice to see that Paul and you don't let any grass grow under your feet.
ReplyDeleteI suppose someone has to like yard work; better you than me. :)
ReplyDeleteYou two have as many projects as we do, have fun.
ReplyDeleteI had no doubt you guys were busy working on the house and yard. And it really is looking beautiful. So keep on enjoying life and just check in once in awhile.
ReplyDeleteYour yard looks wonderful. I must admit I do miss yard work. Glad to hear you are having nice weather.
ReplyDeleteR E L A X, look it up
