Sunday, January 31 – With the sun rising over the south Texas ranchlands, we pulled out of Leisure Valley Ranch and headed north towards Houston.
It's a pretty long drive to Houston, but it's an easy drive. We only pass through a couple small south Texas towns on US-77. Most of the trip is out in the Texas brushlands. At Victoria, TX, we connect to I-69 (TX-59). From there it's just a hop, skip and a jump to our destination at the Houston Elks Lodge Campground.
We are again in Site #1 our favorite site. Being on the end gives Bella a little extra room to explore, and we get a little more privacy. The sites are concrete wide enough to have a concrete patio area. There is a small grass strip between the sites, but it would be nice to have a little more spacing. There is also a grass strip behind the RV's but very few people find a use for that area. Parking is on the gravel drive in front of your RV. Paul usually parks over in the Lodge parking lot so we don't feel so closed in.
We had a great time with friends in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) but were very busy with dentist appointments and other “social activities.” The weather was very good with only one rainy day and two windy days. That's pretty good for winter/January in the Rio Grande Valley.
Paul really likes the way one of the barbers in Progresso, MX, cuts his hair. $5.00.
Here are a few photos of how Bella spent her month in Mission. We learned not to leave our seats.
Paul puts a bucket out to catch the water from the air conditioner. Bella loves the taste of cold water.
We aren't sure what are plans are for the rest of the winter. We keep saying we better think about future plans. One of these days we'll give it the attention it needs. Most likely we'll head toward Ohio sometime near the beginning of April. From there....who knows!
Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see y’all back real soon. Have a great day!
Bella is good at teaching retirement. :)
ReplyDeleteI foresee some fun times with Carrie over the next couple of months! Doesn't seem to matter where you land, time just flies by. You've got a nice spot for Paul's recuperation. Bella sure knows how to enjoy life!
ReplyDeletePaul won't be left alone during his recuperation. Bella will keep a constant eye on him, Good Luck Paul with the knee surgery.
ReplyDeleteBe Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Glad you made it back to Houston safely:) Good to see Bella is still Queen:) Love the last photo of her sprawled out...too cute! Great header, Marsha! Enjoy some time with Carrie:)
ReplyDeleteIsn't that one of the best parts of the "lifestyle" ~ not having to have a plan? Oh how I miss it.
ReplyDeletewe will be heading to Texas in March and then we too ave to start thinking about our spring/summer plans
ReplyDeleteSettled back in Houston again enjoy your time there before heading north.
ReplyDeleteLook at that tan! You sure wouldn't have that if you were in Ohio! Love how kitties know how to relax ;-)
ReplyDeleteAnd we just left Houston two days ago ... almost to Del Rio, Texas.
ReplyDeletesometimes it's nice to not have plans. . .right. . .to just kick back and relax. . .well, except for that knee surgery plan. . .but hey, that will be worth it. . .or so I hear!
ReplyDeleteKeep us posted. . .
Is it safe though to have Bella drink water from the air condition? Anyway, Ohio sounds like a good plan. That's quite a long trip, plenty of sights to see on the way.
