Sunday, April 15 – We did so much on Saturday that we forgot to post that we colored eggs too! Marsha insists we carry on this tradition from when the kids were younger. We did have fun.
Easter Sunday began with the Easter bunny stopping by Carrie’s place.
Our son-in-law is always trying to suck up to Marsha.
After opening the baskets and playing with some of the toys, it was off to Hermann Park, another Houston Park. This park has everything: a zoo, art in the park, playground, Japanese garden, trails, paddle boats, etc., etc., etc. This is another beautiful park, and boy were the locals out enjoying the beautiful Easter holiday. Picnickers were here by the thousands celebrating the day with family and friends. Our goal was to cover 3.2 miles in honor of the 32 Virginia Tech students killed ten years ago on this day by a deranged killer. Carrie was a student at VT during this terrible time.
The display of flowers was gorgeous.
The train is a huge attraction. It goes around the 445 acre park. The cost is $3.50 and all proceeds go to MD Anderson Cancer Hospital Children Ward.
Because the park is so big, there is a Pedicab that a person can hire to see the park.
Hundreds and hundreds of people everywhere.
We returned to Carrie's to enjoy our family Easter dinner. With the help of mom and her sister, Carrie served a delicious dinner of pork loin, potatoes, and asparagus. Yummy! Of course it was time for naps for the boys, so Kelly and Carrie took a walk around downtown covering another four miles.
This is getting long. We will finish Easter day in the next post.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see y’all back real soon. Have a great day!
You all certainly had a grand Easter!! I love that you still carry on Easter traditions!! Your girls will do the same and all those family traditions will carry on. I also love the Easter baskets!! How cute!!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are great!! Beautiful gardens!!
I didn't realize your daughter was at VT at the time of this shooting. I bet you and Paul were out of your minds with worry. What a horrible thing to happen. So glad she was safe from physical harm.
What a great Easter. Nice to keep traditions going.
ReplyDeleteThe kids are never too old for Easter baskets. I mailed mine:) What a lovely, thoughtful idea to walk in memory of those who lost their lives. Dinner sounds yummy.
