WE’RE OFF!!!…WASHINGTON DC

Monday, July 26 – We had a little send off party at Rick & Chris’ house Sunday evening.  Rick prepared an old family favorite….Fried Bologna Sandwiches.

No dodging the heat for us…..LOL  Most of the nation is sweltering in heat anyway, so we might as well take it on in our nation’s capital…..WE’RE OFF TO WASHINGTON, DC

After enjoying family and friends in Canton, Ohio for four weeks, we pulled out of Rick’s driveway and headed down I-77.  A HUGE thank you to Rick and Chris for allowing us to “camp” in their driveway…it was an AWESOME visit!  There sons, Keith & Craig can have their parking spaces back now.  Thanks also to Marsha’s daad for letting us sit in his air conditioning, and Marsha using the tub for her “wonderful” bath time. We really enjoyed our stay and our frequent talks with you and dad.  See you all very soon!!!

Tuesday, July 27 - We hit the road again. We were on the scenic highway.

Now for DC traffic…and we are at least an hour out side the city!

Our next morning heading to Pohick State Park in VA. We’re less than 30 miles from DC and will ride the train/subway in for sightseeing.  This is a very nice park with paved roads and gravel sights.  We are in site 99.

They have a HGUE pool and water park called Pirates Cove and Water Park. Yes, that is a pirate on the top.

There is a ton to do here. It is a great place to bring the family. They have miniature golf, Disc golf, a really big playground area, canoe & kayaks for rent and fishing.

Whoa….what’s that!!  We just had a deer visit our site….lol  Lucky for that deer, Bella, our cat wasn’t prowling around outside.  She was napping in the motor home.

Squirrels are every where.

LAST WEEK IN CANTON, OHIO AND OLE MISS

We can’t believe that we have been in Canton for three full weeks and working on our last. It was and is another week of visits. On Monday, July 26, we will leave for Washing DC.

On Saturday we visited with our neighbors that lived across the street from us. We were both so surprised at how BIG both the kids grew. This is Anna. Marsha calls her…her adopted granddaughter. She has grown a foot or more since last October. She is going in third grade and is smart as can be.

This is Anna’s brother, Anthony. He cracks everyone up. He is ALWAYS either laughing or smiling. He is just on the verge of walking by himself. He has also grown a ton!!!

Of course, we couldn’t leave before Marsha and Anna had their picture taken together. You can see by the picture that Anna is almost as tall as Marsha. Of course, no one would call Marsha a giant or anything.

HAIRY SITUATION! Paul's computer has been acting up lately so we thought we better have someone check it over. We took it to the local computer store and explained our problem. Three days later, we returned to pick it up. It's only problem.....it had a cat hairball and dirt....LOL. It seems the fan that cools its interior had sucked in cat hair. Bella (our cat) loves to lay on the window ledge by our table. That's where our computers are and where we do are computer work. After seeing Paul’s computer, Marsha thought she better take her computer in for cleaning. Her computer is twice as old as Paul's and her hairball/dirt was twice as big.....crazy. So we now have another item on our annual maintenance list....”Get computers cleaned!”

If you are wondering what problems we were having that led to us getting the computers clean…fan would stay on all the time, hot computer bottom and Marsha’s kept turning off all the time. We were told that we shouldn’t use canned air to try to clean the fan. That just causes the dirt to be sent somewhere else in the computer. The computer actually needs taken apart to get the dirt out.

 

Just one more flashback. When we were in Red Bay, AL, we drove to University, MS, to The University of Mississippi or better known as Ole Miss.

It was about one and a half hours from Red Bay. The university is very pretty. One thing we did notice is that the buildings are very close to each other. There are several new buildings going up. Usually a campus has a theme, we didn’t really see one but think that the presences of columns on most of the buildings may be their trademark. We spent a few hours enjoying the campus.

CANTON, OH & A FLASHBACK TO NEW ORLEANS

Thursday, July 15 – Visiting, eating, gaining weight…seems to be our daily routine. Every day one of us has either an appointment, lunch date (Marsha does this.), breakfast outing (This is Paul’s favorite.), visiting a friend at home, and we manage to see  Marsha’s dad for a while each day. We can’t believe it has almost been three weeks since we arrived in Canton. It has been great to see our family and friends. This past week we saw our friends, Cindy and George Woods, and Joyce and Howard Kirk. Paul went to breakfast with 8 guys he taught with. Marsha went to Leigh Ann’s house and then to Jackson High School…where we both retired from…to see Keith, Carolyn, Dave and Shawn.

Since we are doing a ton of visiting and not any site seeing, we thought we would share some pictures of New Orleans and the Garden District. We didn’t have time to post all the beautiful houses we saw. We thought this would be a great time to share this wonderful section of New Orleans with you.
