THE WHEELS GO ROUND AND ROUND

Monday, July 4 – Another beautiful day in the wilds of Arkansas. We enjoyed the day relaxing in the park, reading, working on hobbies, and cooking steaks on the grill. The typical 4th of July in America!

BIKE TRAIL UPDATE: We went on another bike ride today. We went a couple miles down the road to Two Rivers Park. A 1000-acre tract co-owned by the City of Little Rock and Pulaski County at the intersection of the Arkansas and Little Maumelle Rivers. The city-owned area includes approximately 450 acres of mostly wooded wetlands area, and the county-owned area includes approximately 550 acres of open fields.

What a surprise too! After riding down the trail about a mile and a half we came to another bridge crossing the river.

This bridge is still under construction but when completed this trail will meet with the Big Dam Bridge Trail. As a matter of fact, we could see the Big Bridge down river. WOW! This is going to be an AMAZING trail when complete. It has to be one of the nicer trails in the nation.

There is the Garden Center which county residents can rent garden tracts. About 300 residents take advantage of the gardening opportunities.

We saw a herd/group of deer feeding in the field along the trail. Marsha was able to get pretty close before they took off.

Saturday, July 4 –
On Tuesday, we biked the Dam Big Bridge Trail.

This bridge across the Arkansas dam is the longest bridge in the USA built specifically for a walking/biking trail.

Marsha was a little hesitant to cross this bridge on her bike....she isn't crazy about bridges anyway! But she did great with no whining.

It joins over 15 miles of trails along both sides of the river. Very amazing and a great trail to bike, hike, or jog…no cars permitted.

We didn't ride the entire trail in the nearly hundred degree heat but got a nice workout and enjoyed seeing all the people using the trail.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see ya'll back real soon. Have a great day!

THE CALL OF THE WILD

July 2  - Staying in a National/State Park or COE is soooo different than staying in the typical campground. It's so relaxing, so peaceful, so inviting.

If you opt for a site that is all shade, you get all shade…but so lovely!

The song birds singing in the morning and the crickets chirping in the evening. The waves lapping on shore.

How wonderful to take a morning walk, an evening bike ride, or sit around a campfire (even if it's a little warm for a fire). Relax in your chair and read a book or work on your favorite hobby.

This is the lifestyle one envisions when choosing to live the nomad life on an RV'er. It's fun to see the cities and the tourist attractions, but it's this “call of the wild” I find so attractive.

The sites by the water have a HUGE backyard.

They have tons of picnic shelter and pavilions here.

For our friends Sandie and Jim, Where Are The Dixons…you should be here with the boat. Here is how we envision Jim.
