RECONNECTING WITH GREAT FRIENDS

Saturday, July 9 – Not much going on at Camp Red Bay.....service bays are closed for the weekend. Paul washed the MH with the Solution, a waterless cleaning solution that he really likes. He also added water to our batteries....they are on their last leg and will be replaced soon.

About four o'clock, our friends, Brian & Janet Henderson pulled into the site next door. We had a great time catching up with each others lives and reminiscing about the past. We shared quite a few beverages sitting outside enjoying the evening. It's great to see these wonderful old friends.

Sunday, July 10 – We're just hanging out on the old airport runway that is now Tiffin Camp Allegro (better known as Camp Red Bay). We took Bella over to the park so she could enjoy the grass and trees, but it was just too hot for our little kitty, so we returned home to the MH and she enjoyed the air conditioner instead....LOL

There was a HUGE storm that went through this area in May. It looks like the clean-up crew cut-up  a couple of trees and then left. This area was beautiful last year when we were here. We can't believe they have just left it a mess!

Later in the afternoon, we went with Brian & Janet over to the Tiffin factory to see several MH's sitting in the parking lot waiting to be shipped. They sure are nice, but nothing that would make me run out to buy a new one!

Boy, is Camp Red Bay filling-up! There are not too many empty spaces. Now that the July 4^th vacation week is over, everybody is back to work here at the service center. Busy, busy, busy!!!

We did another happy hour with several neighbors and had a good time sharing full-timing life and talking about life and what it sends your way!!! It's interesting how different people deal with the different road blocks of life.......pretty deep!!!

OUR MOTORHOME'S PLACE OF BIRTH

Thursday, July 7 - We are in Red Bay, AL home of Tiffin Motors. We are parked in the Allegro Campground which is on the property of the Tiffin Service Center.

Look how much space we have…NOT! And the lovely surroundings.

Compared to last year, there are really not that many people here. Hopefully this will get us in faster.

We will talk with Norris, the Service Manager, tomorrow morning to see about several repairs we would like to take care of while in Red Bay. Our main driver-side slide-out is making a scary noise and Paul is concerned about some wrinkles that have developed in the fiberglass roof radius. That's the section of roof where it meets the side-walls.

Friday, July 8 – Norris came by this morning to check on what services we needed. The wait won't be as bad as expected. He thinks we should be in the Express Bay by next Wednesday....we'll see! Paul asked about those wrinkles in the roof radius. Norris said wait and see what the technician says but he believes it will be covered by Tiffin's gracious extended warranty on roof issues. We may not get that taken care of in the express bay.....may need to get an appointment for that issue.

We went across the street to McKinney RV and bought a new dining room light. This is something Marsha has wanted for a long time.

McKinney RV deals in almost any RV supplies and parts they buy at year-end clearance from RV manufactures, used parts, and a tremendous amount of discontinued parts and supplies from Tiffin Manufacturing. Paul is looking for an awning for the one window that didn't have an awning when we purchased the MH. He didn't find it today, but plans on going back and digging through the pile they have in the back room. He's going to check here at the Tiffin store too.

We did have Trevor, the service technician specializing on upholstering, come out and look at our AC cover. We had to replace the inside cover and would like to add an upholstered collar to cover some indents in the upholstered ceiling that are a bit unsightly. He's going to do that in his free time, off the Tiffin time clock, to save us some bucks!!!

A funny thing happened today. Paul text a friend that was here the last time we were in RB to tell him to come on down for a reunion. The next thing Paul hears is his phone ringing. The friend, Brian and his wife Janet, were already on their way here. They broke their windshield and are coming in tomorrow afternoon to have it replaced. They are on their way home to Missouri from a July 4^th vacation in Florida. CRAZY!!!

Well, tonight we are headed to the Rattlesnake Saloon. This is the new “hotspot” for Red Bay visitors. We never knew it existed. We'll report tomorrow on what we find.

MARCH OF THE PEABODY DUCKS

Tuesday, July 5 – We're winding down our stay at Maumelle Corp of Engineering Park and the city of Little Rock. One sightseeing adventure we missed when downtown the other day was the Duck March at the Peabody Hotel. So this morning we headed to the Peabody to see the 11:00 morning march of the ducks from their upstairs room, down the elevator and into the fountain in the hotel lobby.

The twice-daily March of The Peabody Ducks has continued in unbroken sequence since the tradition began in Memphis almost 70 years ago, at The Peabody Memphis and at The Peabody Orlando, since November 1, 1986.

Being a little early for the show, we went up to their suite. It's a glass enclosed greenhouse type structure on the second floor balcony, equipped with a couple pools and a water spray mister.

Each morning, promptly at 11 am, the hotel's lobby is the scene of a remarkable ritual. The Peabody Little Rock Ducks leave their Royal Peabody Duck Palace, and arrive at a location in the lobby, where a crimson carpet has been laid out on the gleaming marble floor, leading to the marble fountain which was specially created for them. Three carpeted steps are in place.

The ducks are accompanied by their Duck Master, who is clad in scarlet-and-gold trimmed jacket, and carries a brass head duck cane.

Then, John Philip Sousa's King Cotton March fills the air, the The Peabody Little Rock Ducks march on their red carpet, climb three carpeted steps and dive into the fountain waters. They preen and play here all day, occasionally taking a little nap, and at precisely 5 pm, the march is reversed back to the duck palace, where a dinner of hand-shredded Romaine lettuce, grated (not chopped) carrots, live worm meals and Peabody Duck Trail Mix, awaits them for an evening of quiet repose.

As you can see from the photos above, this is a very popular stop. The kids were a hoot to watch. The "March" happens pretty fast, so have your camera ready.

This evening we had our friends, Marc and Joyce, over for dinner of….HOT DOGS.

They arrived in the campground just this afternoon. This isn't there first stop at the Park. They are very "seasoned" full timers. We met the couple in Livingston. Marc has shared so many interesting places with Paul. He is our "personal tour guide."  Glad you two could make the BIG dinner. Enjoy your next stop.

We are on the road tomorrow for Red Bay, Alabama, and the Tiffin Company. We will share more on our visit to Little Rock in future blogs. This town is a wonderful stop!
