A QUIET VILLAGE…CEDAR KEY, FLORIDA

Tuesday, October 20 – We traveled further North on the Gulf Coast to Cedar Key, Florida.

We are staying at Angler’s Campground. Angler’s has gravel streets and sites. We have a 50 amp full-hook-up site. We have a picnic table and fire ring. Most of the RV's here are long-term residents or snowbirds. It is a Passport America park. All our neighbors are very nice. It's an okay campground for a short stay. Two days for us.

We drove into Cedar Key after getting set up. It's a little fishing village.

Cedar Key

They refer to themselves as Olde Florida. The way Florida use to be before the tourist took over. Not sure how accurate that is, but the town is comprised of several restaurants/bars with a couple eclectic tourist shops mixed in. The main occupations are fishing and clam farmers.

Think there might be a few clams in there, Jeri and Terry?

It's quaint and very laid back.

One of the local watering holes that we couldn’t pass up.

We did drive out to the state park to collect some pine needles for Marsha's basket-making hobby. Not exceptionally long needles, probably 8 -10 inches. We collected a bag full any way. She can use them in a pinch.

We then returned to the RV to see if we could get the Direct TV satellite to hook-on. We've been having problems lately and have had to order a new receiver + DVR. Unfortunately, it's being shipped to our Tallahassee destination. We tried to get hooked onto the campground TV line but were unsuccessful.

Tuesday, we caught up on chores and some relaxation. There is a beach right outside of downtown Cedar Key. All by are lonesome….aaaaahhhh.

UPDATE:  We eventually were successful getting the Direct TV receiver to communicate with the satellite dish.  Yeah TV.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see y’all back real soon. Have a great day!

  2. Looks like a neat little community. I know every blogger that goes there just loves it. Love that huge building in your header. I do prefer the old Florida to the commercialized Florida. That beach looks so lovely:)

  3. We had considered stopping there but not sure that we will. We like laid back but we also like things to be able to run around and visit.

  4. The less busy areas are our favorites, any place to park for the night is good for us.

  5. Gotta love having the beach to yourself. How are the mosquitoes?

  6. Hopefully, they don't upgrade the receiver. When we got our Jenie receiver we found out we need to upgrade our antenna.
