ART CAR MUSEUM

Wednesday, March 30 – We don’t normally go in for modern art, but Marsha wanted to visit this Museum. Before I agreed, I asked how big and long would it take to go to the Museum. She promised it was small and wouldn’t take all day like the ones in Washington D.C. So off we went.

The Art Car Museum is a private museum of contemporary art.

2-front

The museum showroom celebrates the spirit of this post-modern age of car-culture, in which artists have remolded stock cars to the specifications of their own idiosyncratic images and visions.

3

Art Cars are, plainly, cars turned into works of art. By the way, all of these creations are drivable and were driven.

4

The Museum only has five rooms.

The Museum was featuring a truly original Houston art car artist, Mark David Bradford  aka “Scrapdaddy”. He has built some of the greatest innovative pieces of engineering/art on wheels.

Spoonozoid. This exterior of the car is covered with spoons. Actually pretty cool.

Seahorse has a saddle. Its eyes move back and forth.

Cable Guy was our favorite. It can be is covered with wires and cables.

Mark is a sculptor working primarily in metal and will exhibit both freestanding & wall related pieces. Many of his works are motorized.

Richard Cranium…very unusual to say the least.

He has been featured on such TV shows as Battle Bots and Junkyard Wars and hosted Scrapyard Scavengers for the History Channel. He won a contest for designing a guillotine that could slice a car in half. It is way to big to exhibit. They had a small-scale version of the device and a video of how it worked.

This one is called Self-Portrait, but we have no idea why.

There were many, many more of his works on display. The exhibit will only be there until April 24.

The Art Cart Parade…yes, you read correctly. There is a annual parade in Houston. It will be held on Sunday, May-11. If we were around, we would check this out.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see y’all back real soon. Have a great day!

HOT PRODUCT ENDORSEMENT

Monday, March 28 – They are working on the campground driveway today. We've been notified that if we want to leave or use our cars, we should move them prior to the start of the grading process. We've moved our car to the paved parking area.

Before…a few large pot holes.
1

The grading process only took a couple hours. They graded the base, filling in the low spots.

2

Then a couple loads of gravel were brought in and spread over the entire area.

3

Paul heard later in the day that the Elks in charge of the process were not satisfied, and the job may need to be done over.

Much better.
4

Paul used a 3M product – Headlight Renewal – today that is suppose to remove the yellowing, clouding, and scratching appearance that comes to plastic headlight covers after a couple years of service.

Can you see the cloudy appearance?

3

It is a process of four different sanding discs used to actually sand the plastic covers, removing these defects in a fine sanding process.

IT WORKS ........ MAGNIFICENTLY!!!! A product Paul would recommend to others. A neighbor here at the Elks RV Campground told him about the product, and Paul purchased it at Harbor Freight. It is well priced on sale for $15 and is well worth it! Our headlights shine and look like new!!!

Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see y’all back real soon. Have a great day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAUL!!!

Saturday, March 26 – We went over to Kelly's apartment today to celebrate Paul's birthday. It's actually Sunday, but today is a better day to get together with our daughters. We sat by the pool and visited for several hours. Kelly’s friend brought her new little puppy over to visit us.

This little sweetie wanted to give him a hug, but Gizmo wanted to give her kiss instead.
3

We watched some NCAA basketball (March Madness), had dinner (Salmon on the grill. Marsha had a new recipe for a sauce. YUMMY!), birthday cake, and played a couple games ( Farkle and Rats). The birthday boy began nodding off a little after ten o'clock, so it was time to head home. We had an great day with the girls.

How many candles are on that cake?
